Since her entrance to the music scene, Jamaican vocalist Ikaya, has released several singles showcasing her musical prowess.
‘Hard Way’,
‘High With You’,
‘Good Up’,
‘These Tears’ and her collaboration with Merciless
‘Amber Alert’have all received good reviews and heavy rotation on local and international media outlets.
But it was not until now that we have noticed a more "rootsy" side to Ikaya.
"Rasta Heart", a song which was leaked on youtube early this morning, demonstrates a more conscious, easy going Ikaya. Is this her new sound? Oufah has been told that the song was leaked from her unreleased reggae roots album. Currently signed to an independent music label, Ikaya continues to write songs and record tracks for her first studio album, which we are told is not yet titled. The album will be complete for her summer tour of Europe. Ikaya will open set for international reggae star Alborosie. The tour is scheduled to run for 8 weeks beginning in July.
